I have here a small
list (in no real order) of Celtic Music Sites. Of the hundreds
on the 'net, I have selected a few (for now) that I feel offer
a good idea of what's available. They in turn, have links to
many more. I will add to this page as time permits, but if you
know of any sites that you feel may be useful, please let
me know.
Fox on
the Town - A new band in the Bay Area. Angeline Leleux,
Art Friedman and Margaret Sloan mix it up for weddings, céilís
and contra dances.
The Brobdingnagian
Bards (pronounced brAHb'ding-näg-EE-en) are The Original
Celtic Renaissance duo combining unique instrumentation (autoharp,
recorder & mandolin) that'll leave you hungry for more:
Celtic drinking songs for breakfast; fantasy, filk and dragon
sandwiches for lunch; and an extra helping of JRR Tolkien-esque
instrumentals for dinner.
Barbary
Grant - A mighty harper and Irish singer, she helped us
out at the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Music Workshop, when
our own Irish singer was suddenly called away. We contacted
Barbary the day before the workshop and we owe her a great debt
of gratitude.
Culaan's
Hounds - A local SF Traditional Band. Great tunes!!!
John Whelan
- An Accordion player from Dunstable, England, and now living
in Milford, CT. where he has started a local branch of Comhaltas
Ceoltóirí Eireann. Great music, great performer
and all around fun to be around!
Cooperman
Bodhráns - Manufacturer of excellent quality bodhráns
(and other things). I have one and I really love it.
Seamus
Walshe - An accordion player from Co. Clare, now living
in Galway. Great music, and a truly wonderful person. I spent
the day with him recently in Galway and he made me feel most
welcome!
Golden
Bough - A Local Bay Area group that have been playing Celtic
tunes since 1980. They have a very upbeat style and generate
a lot of great energy. They always have fun on the stage and
put on a great show.
Ardyth
& Jennifer - Two lovely young ladies from Nova Scotia,
singing and playing their harps. I met them in Boston, and they
really rock! If you ever get the chance to see them perform,
do it! They also have two CDs out, and both are very well done.
Irish
Traditional Music Resource Site - Christina O'Shaughnessy's
very comprehensive resource site, from Geneva no less!
sfcelticmusic.com
- Jim Scarff's site with lots of links and information about
Celtic events in the Bay Area and beyond!
Traditional

in the San Diego Irish music scene. His site is very well
done and he has a lot of information and cool resources.
San
Francisco Scottish Fiddlers - San Francisco's own Scottish
Fiddle Culb, promoting Scottish music through seisiúns,
workshops, camps, and concerts.
Ceolas
